About Norval Conference Centre

Norval Conference Centre is owned and run by the Uniting Church, and we are blessed that we are able to use it every year, as it's a popular venue, beautifully situated among the gum trees on the lower slopes of the Grampians almost directly below the famous Pinnacle Lookout.

Norval boasts the following:

  • Facilities - central heating and modern accommodation mostly under one roof. Rooms not in the main block are individually heated.
  • Rooms - all rooms have ensuites and single beds in each room.
  • Meals - all meals, snacks and drinks provided. A fruit bowl, hot drinks and cordial are available at all times. This year we are self-catering to bring costs down to a more reasonable level.
  • Friday tea - Friday night tea is an optional cooked meal served between 6pm and 7pm. There is no extra charge for this meal so be there if you can!

What to bring

Norval is a tidy and well equipped conference centre, but there are still some things you will need to bring!

  • Bedding - blankets and pillows only are provided. Bring your own linen, doonas, or sleeping bags (and pillowcases).
  • Clothes - bring suitable clothes for studies and the memorial meeting (tidy with females wearing skirts), plus clothing suitable for hiking.
  • Studies - Bibles, hymn books, notebooks and a ready mind will all be useful! Studies are recorded in case there is something you just didn't quite catch ...
  • Instruments - if you play an instrument, please bring it to accompany the hymns and/or provide some light entertainment on Saturday night!
  • Items - Can you act? Mime? Make people laugh? Read poetry? Watch out for our Saturday night talent scout roaming the halls ...

Other

  • Rosters will be made to help with setting tables and washing up.
  • Saturday afternoon is free to enjoy the Grampians. This year we can go to Mt Zero Olive grove, possibly a glass blowing studio, go hiking or driving through the beautiful Grampians National Park, visit the zoo - an entrance fee applies, visit the Sawell model train exhibition or just enjoy a coffee/ice cream in the town Centre. If you would like to go to the Mt Zero Olive Grove or the Glass Blowing Studio please not that in the comments section of the application form so we can negotiate a cost.
  • Lights out is at 11:00 PM.

We look forward to having your company!
